GT Enclosed Transport Delivers $26M Star of the 2012 New York Auto Show
Billed out as the most expensive vehicle of the 2012 New York Auto Show, the original 1962 Shelby CSX2000 Cobra made its way from The Shelby Foundation in California to the Big Apple by way of a GT Enclosed Transport Transporter. “I loved the article in the April 1st edition of The New York Post written by Annie Karin and specifically the quote by John Luft, President of Shelby American. “The car is returning to the scene of the crime.” “It was unveiled in New York 50 years ago and this is its first return to New York since then.” Commented Ken Gold, Founder and President of GT Enclosed Transport.
“I am extremely honored to have been entrusted to transport this extremely rare and valuable automobile on behalf of Shelby American and the Carroll Shelby Foundation.” continued Gold. “We began moving the iconic Branded automobiles in 1995 for Shelby American and have moved thousands for them over the years. It’s like I tell my drivers in a lighthearted way, just slow down a little bit when you get to The Factory and the Shelby’s just seem to jump into our trailers like they were trained too. It’s almost as if the Shelby’s are as excited to get to the final destination as the new owners are to receive them.” stated Gold.
“The story is the Post goes on to say that this particular 1962 CSX2000 Cobra is the most expensive car in the America and is still owned by Carroll Shelby, who built it with his own hands. That car represents the Holy Grail of American Automotive History and Performance, but at 50 years old, I will have my drivers come to a complete stop to load and unload this priceless beauty.” Concluded Gold
